Continuing Education Programmes for certified Jivamukti Yoga Teachers
27 to 30 May 2027 · Peace Yoga Berlin

A restorative specialisation that takes the nervous system into account, based on the Jivamukti Yoga method. 50 continuing professional development hours, certified by Jivamukti Yoga Global.

The format you are certified to teach

Restore & Renew is one of the standardised Jivamukti class formats, and many of us rarely teach it. Long holds and silence raise genuine questions. Many teachers who usually lead a vigorous vinyāsa class are familiar with the quiet worry that the class might drift off to sleep.

This programme tackles these questions head-on and is fully in line with the method. Over four days, you will practise and teach the format from the inside. ‘Restore & Renew’ can then become a natural part of your weekly teaching and a counterbalance to ‘Open’ and ‘Spiritual Warrior’ classes.

A practice of rest that keeps one awake

Restore & Renew weaves gentle vinyāsa, prāṇāyāma, chanting, meditation, guided relaxation and restorative āsana into a single flow. Its roots lie in Vinyāsa Krama, Nāda, Dhyāna, Bhakti and Ahiṃsā. We will examine closely where the format overlaps with Yin-like practices and where it follows its own logic. This will enable you to explain it clearly to your students and to the studios where you teach.

Your facilitators

Andrea Kwiatkowski and Moritz Ulrich are two of the main contributors to the Jivamukti Restore & Renew curriculum. Both have been teaching slower-paced classes for many years.

Andrea Kwiatkowski is an Advanced Jivamukti Yoga Teacher and has been teaching Jivamukti Yoga since 2005. She runs her own Jivamukti Yoga studio and acts as a mentor on Jivamukti Teacher Training courses.

Moritz Ulrich is a Senior Advanced Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, teacher trainer and registered doctor. He co-founded Peace Yoga Berlin and has been teaching yoga for more than 20 years. His medical background ensures that the nervous system content of this programme is grounded in sound physiology.

How the programme unfolds

The 50 hours are divided into three phases. All three form part of the certification.

Preparation · 14 days before the training session
You work through self-guided online material. Daily breathing awareness and reflection exercises help you arrive already in tune with your own nervous system.

In person · 27 to 30 May 2027
You will spend 32 hours over four full days at Peace Yoga Berlin, Glogauer Straße 19, 10999 Berlin. Each day begins with a mantra and meditation and continues with a full Restore & Renew class. In the afternoons, we focus on theory and partner teaching. The days run from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Times may be subject to slight changes.

Integration · after the training
You complete your homework and submit recorded teaching videos. Andrea and Moritz provide you with personalised feedback on them.

What you will be able to teach

  • A complete ‘Restore & Renew’ class lasting 60 to 90 minutes, with a clear progression from centring to integration
  • Chanting and setting intentions in a restorative setting
  • Prāṇāyāma practices that calm the body whilst keeping the mind clear
  • Gentle vinyāsa sequences that follow the Vinyāsa Krama and prepare the body for stillness
  • More than 25 restorative āsanas, including supported inversions, in variations using props and with minimal use of props
  • The 3-Step Meditation and Guided Relaxation
  • Bolsters, blankets, blocks and straps, used skilfully to suit different body types and levels of sensitivity

What you will learn

  • Basic principles of nervous system regulation and the role of the vagus nerve in breathing, sound and rest
  • How to distinguish a sense of calm from dissociation and lethargy
  • Hold times and transitions, and the reasoning behind them
  • When to speak and when to remain silent, so that you create a safe space with just the right amount of guidance
  • How the 5 Tenets and the Focus of the Month are incorporated into a restorative class
  • How to present Dharma reflections and storytelling in a way that creates a sense of calm in the room
  • How to regulate your own nervous system before you teach

What you take home

  • Four complete Restore & Renew sequences, one for each day, ready to teach and refine
  • Templates for class structure, timing, pose selection and breath integration
  • Language to introduce slow classes with confidence
  • 50 continuing education hours certified by Jivamukti Yoga Global

Who this programme is for

This programme is open exclusively to Jivamukti Yoga Teachers who have completed a 300-hour certification or higher by the start of the training on 27 May 2027.

You’ll feel at home here if you

  • teach mainly Open and Spiritual Warrior classes and long for a counterbalance
  • Keep ‘Restore & Renew’ in your toolbox and rarely take it out
  • want to understand what happens in the nervous system when a person settles into a state of rest
  • are ready to take things at a more leisurely pace, both as a practitioner and as a teacher

Restore & Renew supports regulation through practice. Clinical and trauma-specific work fall outside its scope.

What participants say

I feel less intimidated by silence when I’m teaching. Even if you’ve completed a Jivamukti teacher training course, you can always benefit from seeing certain aspects of the method from a different perspective, and you start teaching parts of the sequence to the other students from day one.

Tina Drepanioti

Ultimately, this is another Jivamukti class, with the same underlying purpose, and the five tenets are just as relevant. If you’re looking to expand your Jivamukti skills beyond the core class formats, this is the training for you.

Schalk Viljoen

I have already incorporated the Restore & Renew practice into several of my classes and received very positive feedback. Even students who usually prefer a more intense, dynamic vinyāsa practice noticed how restorative it was, and the gentle Vinyāsa Krama at the start made the transition to a different kind of practice much easier for them.

Christiane Braun-Walker

What stays with me most is the realisation that regulation never happens by chance. It stems from a very deliberate approach to preparing the space, from language and from timing. I was deeply impressed by how fully the teachers embody this work. You could sense at every moment that they truly live this method.

Theresa Froschhäuser

I discovered a new way of approaching the Jivamukti method. The meaning of space, of silence and spirituality, the role of the breath: much of what I had previously understood with my mind, I was able to grasp with my heart here.

Irmgard Nolte

I have always taught fast-paced open classes. The training gave me the structure and the confidence to embrace a practice that I love and believe has immense positive effects on those who practise it. I will also incorporate some of its elements into my vinyāsa classes.

Teacher

  • Senior - Advanced Certified JIVAMUKTI YOGA Teacher
Co-Director Peace Yoga Berlin, Medical Doctor

Moritz is a Berlin-based advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, founder of the Jivamukti Yoga School Peace Yoga, creator of online courses for yoga students and teachers and facilitator, anatomy and Sanskrit teacher for the international Jivamukti Yoga teacher trainings.

Moritz has been teaching yoga for over 17 years and made it his main profession after successfully completing his medical studies. Having first come to yoga through mysticism, philosophy and esotericism, he now integrates his knowledge into physically and mentally challenging asana classes, which are accompanied by an inspiring soundtrack and heart-warming chanting of mantras and kirtan.

To this day, his teachers are Sharon Gannon and David Life, the founders of the Jivamukti Yoga method, from whom he regularly learns and to whom he is deeply grateful that they have paved the way for him to walk on today.

Moritz is also grateful for all the other wonderful teachers he has had the opportunity to learn from, including Ana Froest, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Bryan Kest, Manorama, Gitta Kistenmacher and Dr Patrick Broome.

"My greatest wish is that I can support others in using the tools of yoga practice to experience a sense of primal trust that leads to the realisation of their true potential, which is infinite and filled with more limitless joy. I am convinced that yoga is not for everyone, but only for those who are interested and open to it. But yoga always welcomes them. I feel truly honoured to have been given the opportunity to be of service to others on this adventure to the state of yoga, the state of being one with our true self again."

PS: A vegan diet is the best yoga practice and perhaps the most important.
