Yoga Course Berlin: Jivamukti Open Class

In Jivamukti Open Classes combines dynamic, sweat-inducing physical exercises with music, guided breathing, spiritual themes and meditation.

It doesn't matter if you're a yoga beginner and don't know the difference between vrksasana (the "tree") and sirshasana (the headstand), or if you're an advanced yogi and can tuck both feet behind your head: In a Jivamukti Open class is open to all.

You practise within your own abilities, supported by the instructions of the teachers, who always offer different variations in our yoga classes in Berlin for beginners, advanced and "pros".

In the Open Class, classical yoga teachings are taken up and related to our modern everyday lives. The inspiration for this is provided by the Focus of the Month - an essay that is published monthly and is always written by a senior teacher of the Jivamukti method. All Jivamukti Open classes worldwide are based on this Focus of the Month.

The yoga class is also supported by chanting a mantra or kirtan, breathing awareness exercises, flowing vinyasa sequences, asana alignment exercises, assistance in the postures from the teacher (where possible), relaxation and meditation techniques. Versatile, inspiring music from various styles will guide you through the class.

The yoga course "Open Class" offers less detailed instructions for the individual asanas. The Jivamukti Basic Class is ideal for this: not only for beginners, but also for advanced yogis who want to refine their asana practice.

Yoga course in Berlin: Jivamukti Basic

Each Jivamukti Basic Class is part of a four-week basic course that is repeated every month and includes the following topics:

1. stances (1st - 7th of a month)

2. prevention (8th - 14th of a month)

3. backbends (15th - 21st of a month)

4. inversion postures, meditation, vinyasa, and combination of postures (from the 22nd to the end of the month)

In contrast to the focus on vinyasa, the flowing connection of the asanas in the open class, the emphasis in the basic class is on the alignment of the postures and learning the basic elements of the open classes. Students learn how to perform the asanas, what variations there are and which aids (blocks, straps, blankets) can support the execution.

The structure of the class gently and carefully prepares you for the open classes. All yoga beginners are recommended to take part in all four classes at the beginning. Even though the weekly topics build on each other, you can join in every week. Advanced and experienced yogis alike benefit from the step-by-step and detailed exploration of the asana alignments.

Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior

Yoga course - with Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes

The Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes are particularly suitable for students with some yoga experience, but of course all adventurous students are also welcome. Beginners:inside Welcome!

The Spiritual Warrior is a powerful, slightly shorter Jivamukti Yoga class (60 minutes). The sequence is set and taught in a flowing Vinyasa style. It includes a short warm-up sequence, sun salutations, standing asanas, backbends, forward bends, twists, inversions, meditation and relaxation.

The focus of this yoga class is on the connection between breath and movement and on the flowing sequence of postures. There is therefore less theory or yoga philosophy. The sequence of postures is always the same and therefore easy to learn. Even if you find the first few times a little more difficult, you will soon be able to let yourself sink completely into the well thought-out sequence. The more often you practise this sequence, the more you will notice how your body awareness changes and refines through the asana practice. As it is always the same asanas, you will notice changes very clearly.

Free Yoga Course Berlin: Satsang / Meditation / Kirtan

This yoga class in Berlin is always free and open to everyone. Just come along. The programme can always vary slightly. We usually start with a short chanting of a Sanskrit mantra followed by a 10-15 minute meditation. The Jivamukti Yoga Meditation is a simple mantra meditation in three steps:

1. choose your seat.

2. be quiet.

3. focus yourself.

A mantra is the centre of focus. The mantra "Let go" is repeated together with the recurring inhalation and exhalation.

After the meditation, there is time for questions or to share experiences with everyone. Sometimes a verse from a yogic text is sung and discussed. This is usually followed by kirtan singing (singing in call and response). No previous knowledge is required. We look forward to seeing you.

Jivamukti Restore & Renew:
A yoga course to relax

With the help of slow, gentle movements, the practice of breathing techniques, meditation, chanting, guided deep relaxation and longer stays in asanas, you can bring your body and mind to rest in this class. Your breath will relax and lengthen, your fascia will be gently but effectively stretched, relaxation and calming will set in.

Taking time for such a gentle practice refreshes you physically and mentally. Restore & Renew is also a perfect complement to the Vinyasa-based, dynamic Jivamukti Yoga classes such as Open or Spiritual Warrior. The yoga class is perfect if you are not physically fit, during pregnancy or after giving birth. Absolutely no previous experience necessary.

Yin Yoga Course in Berlin

Yin yoga is about moving from activity to passivity. We try to use little to no muscle strength and let gravity work for us. The asana practice itself is therefore very slow. The asanas are held for three to five minutes, which can be very intense but also relaxing. By stretching intensively and for a long time, we regenerate and stabilise our fascia (part of the connective tissue).

In addition to the intensive Yin postures, restorative asanas are also practised, whereby more aids are used with the aim of making you feel completely comfortable and relaxed.

These classes are suitable for people of all physical conditions. Aids and alternatives help you to let go and still have an intense physical, mental and emotional experience. They are also ideal as a supplement to the dynamic Jivamukti Yoga classes, as a practice when you are physically unwell, during pregnancy and after birth - and of course at any other time! No prior knowledge is necessary.

The Jivamukti Magic Ten and Beyond

"The Magic Ten and Beyond" is an ideal start to the day, based on Jivamukti founder Sharon Gannon's personal daily morning practice. The yoga class complements all other Jivamukti classes that focus more on asana.

During the 45 minutes you will practise all the important yogic practices: Asana, Kriya (cleansing exercises), Pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and affirmations. This class is suitable for anyone looking for a complete yoga practice that goes beyond the physical practice and focuses on the wider practices of yoga. It includes very accessible exercises to establish a positive mindset and to refine and integrate your yogic personality on and off the mat.

You can also incorporate all the exercises from this yoga course into your everyday life.

You must register in advance for all classes. Cash payment on site is not possible. You can easily do this via our booking tool from eversports make. If you are new to us, we recommend our trial offer. This allows you to take part in all yoga classes for 14 days. Please note that each of our two locations (Eisenbahnstraße and Glogauer Straße) has its own profile.
Jivamukti Yoga is a method founded by Sharon Gannon and David Life in the 1980s that integrates different aspects of yoga practice: Meditation, dynamic asana sequences, music, mantra chanting, yoga philosophy and a compassionate approach to the world and its inhabitants. It is not important to us to differentiate ourselves from others, but to teach you a holistic yoga that addresses all aspects of your being. You can expect some sweat-inducing yoga classes mixed with heart-warming chanting, an inspiring soundtrack and thought-provoking impulses from yoga philosophy.
Practise barefoot and preferably in clothes you feel comfortable in. Bear in mind that it can get sweaty at times. So don't choose clothes that are too warm. It may also be a good idea not to wear clothes that are too loose and restrict your movement. We ask all participants to always wear a top and sufficiently long trousers up to the thighs.
There are health insurance companies that subsidise participation in yoga courses. Please enquire with your health insurance company. We are happy to confirm your participation in yoga classes with us if you have the appropriate form. The best way to do this is to send us an e-mail. We do not offer explicit health insurance or prevention courses.
Most of our yoga classes last 90 minutes. This gives you enough time to integrate and experience all aspects of the yoga practice. The Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes are 60 minutes long, as are our morning yoga classes.
