18 and 19 September, Peace Yoga Berlin, Eisenbahnstraße
Early Bird for the whole weekend: €88 (until 4 August)
Emma Henry is coming to Berlin for two days. Two MasterClasses, two themes, one weekend.
Emma has been teaching for over 25 years. She began in the mid-90s in Mysore, studying Ashtanga with Pattabhi Jois. It was in New York that she discovered Jivamukti, learning directly from Sharon Gannon and David Life. Today she is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher and a facilitator of the Jivamukti 300-hour teacher training courses.
She is one of the most experienced Jivamukti Yoga teachers in the world. She was Director of Yoga at triyoga London and now teaches at Love Supreme Projects in London, as well as leading retreats, workshops and training courses all over the world.
Emma has a background in dance, and you’ll really feel that in her classes. Her sequencing is superb, her playlists set the tone, and her understanding of anatomy and alignment is precise. She has worked on film productions including *The Legend of Tarzan* and *Cats*, alongside choreographer Wayne McGregor. And her playlists are widely known, so you can expect a perfect blend of heartfelt bhakti, clarity and precision, as well as physically transformative asana sequences.
She is also a dear friend. We have known each other for many years through the Jivamukti family, and it means a great deal to me that she is teaching here.
Friday 18 September, 6pm
Heart Wide Open: Strength, Space and Freedom
Backbends open up the body in the places where everyday life tends to close it off. The shoulders, the entire front of the torso, the hips. Anyone who sits a lot, carries a lot or holds a lot knows that forward pull.
Emma uses these two hours to build warmth, strength and space before moving on to the deeper backbends. You will learn where mobility comes from and how strength in the back supports it. Along with philosophy, music and chanting, as in every Jivamukti class.
Backbends have an effect that goes beyond the body. They wake you up; sometimes they soften you. Bringing the heart forward requires trust.
120 minutes. All levels welcome.
Saturday 19 September, 11am
Fear Less: Building Confidence Upside Down
Inversions are rarely a question of strength. They are a question of mindset. The moment our feet leave the floor is the moment most of us stop.
Emma spends two hours on the journey there. Preparing the shoulders, finding the midline, balancing against the wall, learning how to fall. You work from wherever you are right now, whether that’s Sirsasana, Pincha or your first attempt at a handstand.
The day before is the best preparation there is. What Emma works on in her shoulders and upper back on Friday is what you’ll need above your head on Saturday.
120 minutes. All levels welcome.
Who is this for?
‘Open Level’ means ‘Open Level’. You don’t need to be able to do a deep backbend or a free handstand to take part. Emma has spent 25 years teaching people of all abilities, from athletes to students undergoing treatment, and she offers variations to suit every level in both classes. If you practise Open Classes regularly, this is the place for you.
