Hands-on assists are more than just simple touches. They enable your students to experience yoga practice on a deeper level.
In this workshop, you will learn about the physical and energetic alignment of various asanas as well as basic assists for all asana groups.
First, you will examine how what you have learned feels in your own body in practice. With this deeper understanding of asana and assist, we will then practise in pairs how to position your feet and arms sensibly when assisting and how to use aids such as straps and blocks in a way that is easy on the back.
The aim is to strengthen the connection to the earth and give the practitioner a sense of security and physical learning.
This knowledge will give you a solid foundation for developing your own assistance techniques and responding to special needs during lessons. We will also address physical limitations and consent rules.
Among other things, we clarify the following questions:
How do I touch with the right intention?
How do I decide on the right assist?
How can I provide meaningful assistance in flow, balance and inversion poses?
When should I assist more – and when less?
You will learn to assist with
– both hands
– the fingertips
– the whole body
– Tools
– in the flow
– Words and voice
– the breath
– the right intention
The workshop is aimed at yoga teachers with initial experience in assisting, as well as practitioners who wish to deepen their own practice.
