Between freedom and dependency - how aggregators are changing the yoga scene

An open conversation about Urban Sports Club, EGYM & Co. - and their impact on studios, teachers and the community.

More and more yoga studios and teachers are working with aggregators such as Urban Sports Club, ClassPass and EGYM. The platforms promise reach and new members - but at what price?

We, Nicole Bongartz and Moritz Ulrich, invite you to a interactive panel discussion in which voices from all perspectives have their say: Studio operators, teachers, practitioners - and also representatives of the platforms themselves.

Together we discuss:

  • What opportunities and risks do aggregators bring for yoga studios?
  • How do they change the relationship between teachers and students?
  • What does all this mean for the quality, culture and integrity of yoga practice in the long term?

The goal: Transparency, dialogue and mutual understanding - beyond black and white thinking. Because reality is complex - and that is precisely why we need this space for dialogue.

  • Senior - Advanced Certified JIVAMUKTI YOGA Teacher
Co-Director Peace Yoga Berlin, Medical Doctor

Moritz is a Berlin-based advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, founder of the Jivamukti Yoga School Peace Yoga, creator of online courses for yoga students and teachers and facilitator, anatomy and Sanskrit teacher for the international Jivamukti Yoga teacher trainings.

Moritz has been teaching yoga for over 17 years and made it his main profession after successfully completing his medical studies. Having first come to yoga through mysticism, philosophy and esotericism, he now integrates his knowledge into physically and mentally challenging asana classes, which are accompanied by an inspiring soundtrack and heart-warming chanting of mantras and kirtan.

To this day, his teachers are Sharon Gannon and David Life, the founders of the Jivamukti Yoga method, from whom he regularly learns and to whom he is deeply grateful that they have paved the way for him to walk on today.
Moritz is also grateful for all the other wonderful teachers he has had the opportunity to learn from, including Ana Froest, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Bryan Kest, Manorama, Gitta Kistenmacher and Dr Patrick Broome.

"My greatest wish is that I can support others in using the tools of yoga practice to experience a sense of primal trust that leads to the realisation of their true potential, which is infinite and filled with more limitless joy. I am convinced that yoga is not for everyone, but only for those who are interested and open to it. But yoga always welcomes them. I feel truly honoured to have been given the opportunity to be of service to others on this adventure to the state of yoga, the state of being one with our true self again."

PS: A vegan diet is the best yoga practice and perhaps the most important.
